This is an interesting method for practicing "Possible Practice" in the context of business strategy development.
I also use the idea of "Possible Practice" to develop a framework called DEEP in order to discuss the "People - Platform" relationship.
The DEEP framework considers platform as a type of Social Environment. It also focuses on the perspective of Adult Life Development.
Though the DEEP framework is not developed for business thinking, it can be used for rethinking the "people - organization - platform" relationship.
While the Phoenix Encournter Method focuses on the "Possible Disruption" and "Competition", the DEEP framework is more about "Possible Development" and "Collaboration".
I think new technologies offers new opportunities to connect individual creators with business incumbents. While business incumbents are building platforms and ecosystems, some creative people could become Platform Hackers.
A strategic action is to working with these Platform Hackers and support their life development. In this way, business incumbents could build a real platform or ecosystem.
This approach is different from the Phoenix Encounter Method because it looks for resouces of business incumbents and asks a question:
Can we offer our resources to support these platform hackers?
